UKULELE WORKSHOPS Saturday 24th January 2026 in Birchington
Beginner Ukulele. Your chance to learn how to play. We will discover techniques to optimise your learning and you will be playing and singing very quickly. Suitable for absolute beginners and new players. Great fun! Loan ukuleles available for the session or bring your own if you already have one. Age 16+

Introduction To Chord Melodies. ​An opportunity for competent players at club level to explore chord melodies. A great way to enjoy playing or performing on your own.

Examples of other courses available in ukulele skills:
Morning ukulele workshop for complete beginners. Ukuleles can be supplied.
Improvers and club players. Improve the sound you get, optimise your playing, count-in a song, play the blues and develop intros and other enhancements.
Starting/running a ukulele club. Leading the songs, finding a venue, coping with admin, counting in, respecting the beat, developing songbooks etc.
The ukulele is a fun instrument. It is enjoying great popularity at present and fast replacing the recorder as the must-have instrument in schools. Ukuleles are inexpensive, portable and easy to play as long as you don't develop bad habits.
Learn properly, practice regularly (little and often) and you will soon be able to play the chords for hundreds of songs.

ABOUT ME
I'm Jim Moran and I've been teaching ukulele to beginners and intermediate students for quite a few years. I'm a qualified teacher in schools and colleges and my experience includes starting a successful ukulele club in a special school that I worked in. Courses have been run for clients including Ageless Thanet, Live Better in the Community, Age UK and Neptune Co-Working Hub. As a professional I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and £5,000,000 public liability insurance.
